AUXILIARY BISHOP FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE OF GULU
(Appointed July 22nd, 2006 - consecrated on October 21st, 2006 )
On July 22nd, 2006, the Holy Father appointed the Reverend Sabino Odoki, Rector of the Philosophical National Major Seminary of Alokolum, Gulu, as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Gulu.
The Reverend Sabino Odoki was born on August 8th, 1957 at Layibi, near Gulu. He was ordained a priest on September 10th, 1983. Mgr. Sabino worked in Kitgum Mission Parish (1983 - 1985), Studied at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa - CUEA (1985 - 1992) where he obtained a Doctorate in Theology. From 1992 - 1997, he worked at St. Mauritz, a Sub-parish that he initiated. From 1997, he was Rector of Alokolum National Major Seminary.
The Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Sabino Odoki took place on October 21st, 2006 at St. Joseph's Cathedral - Gulu. Archbishop John Baptist Odama of the Archdiocese of Gulu was the principal consecrator with His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala and His Excellency Archbishop Christopher Pierre, the Papal Nuncio to Uganda as co-consecrators. The celebration was attended by 22 bishops (and Archbishops), 216 priests, numerous religious and the faithful from all the dioceses of Uganda and beyond.
